TAILWHEEL CONVERSIONS

North West Aviation has converted the following nose wheel aircraft to tailwheel configuration.

Cessna 152, 172, 182 and Piper PA22 Tri-Pacer.

Our company specialises in carrying out tailwheel conversions to Cessna 182 (1956-1961).

CASA STC No. SVA506 was issued to North West Aviation on 17/4/2000 to modify the undercarriage of Cessna 182, 182A, 182B, 182C, 182D to the same configuration as the Cessna 180.

Having this conversion carried out to a STC gives International credibility to this modification.

Advantages to Modifying the undercarriage to tail wheel configuration are:

  1. More robust undercarriage assembly that is better suited to operations from unimproved airstrips.
  2. Increased propeller clearance making the propeller less susceptible to gravel and stone damage during taxi and take-off operations.
  3. The aircraft is more stable when operating on rough and undulating terrain
